Cooking Tips

Uncured pasture-raised bacon has a clean, rich flavor and typically contains less water than conventional bacon, which means it cooks faster and crisps up well. Because it’s not pumped with curing agents or excess brine, gentle heat helps render the fat slowly and prevents the slices from burning. Whether you cook it on the stovetop or in the oven, the goal is steady heat that brings out the bacon’s natural flavor and crispness.

Stovetop Tips:

  • Start the bacon in a cold pan to help the fat render slowly and evenly
  • Cook over medium heat—not high—to prevent scorching
  • Flip frequently for consistent browning and to keep edges from curling
  • Pour off excess fat as needed and save it—pasture-raised bacon fat is incredible for cooking

Oven Tips:

  • Lay slices on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment for easy cleanup
  • Bake at 375°F for even cooking without splatter
  • Check early—uncured bacon cooks faster and can crisp quickly
  • For extra crispness, place bacon on a wire rack over the baking sheet

General Tips:

  • Because it’s uncured, expect a more natural pork flavor with less salt—season dishes accordingly
  • Save rendered fat for roasting vegetables or frying eggs
  • If you prefer chewier bacon, pull from heat a minute earlier; for crisp bacon, cook until deep golden
