What is suet:
Suet is fat that forms around the kidneys of cattle. It has a mild flavor and its fatty acid makeup leaves it solid at room temperature with the ability to lend a light texture to baked goods like dumplings, pastries, and pie crusts. Grass fed beef suet also has a high smoke point, making it perfect for deep frying foods.
Where to buy beef suet?
As with steaks and organ meat it is important that you purchase your fats from a source you can trust. Our beef suet comes from the same cattle as our beef, you can expect a rich depth of flavor that can't be matched with traditional supermarket lard or vegetable shortening.
At Acabonac Farms all our products come from 100% grass fed, pasture finished beef. Our cattle live peacefully, roaming pastures on Long Island near the ocean.
