Keep Your Dog Hydrated With Raw Dog Food

Hydration Should Be A Priority

As the summer months continue and the heat index keeps rising it’s important to consider the amount of water your dog is consuming. According to the veterinarians at PetMD, dogs should consume approximately 1oz of water per day for each pound of body weight. With 1oz equaling about 1/8th of a cup, your 30 lb dog should be drinking around 3 and 3/4 cups of water per day.

Dehydration Is Dangerous

The ramifications of dehydration in dogs can be far reaching, from kidney disease to diabetes. As concerned pet parents, making sure our pups are getting enough water should always be a priority. Keeping dogs hydrated can be a challenge for some pet parents. Some older dogs do not drink as much as they should, similarly some active dogs do not drink enough to compensate for their level of activity.

Raw Food To The Rescue

A great strategy for helping to keep dogs hydrated is to feed them a raw dog food like Acabonac Pet. With Acabonac Pet you’re essentially feeding your dog 75% moisture with every serving. This extra water content goes far in supporting healthy organ functions and proper digestion.

Think about it this way, kibble is as dry as burnt toast. Would you prefer to eat a meal of burnt toast or juicy steak? Which one would leave you more satisfied and hydrated?

While it’s important to always have fresh drinking water available for your dog, finding other ways to incorporate moisture into their diet (particularly during these summer months) can go a long way towards insuring their continued good health.
